Kindly note that check-in is strictly between 14h00 and 18h00 on the day of arrival.

Please note that the N2, especially between Ermelo and Richards Bay and between Piet Retief and Durban, is experiencing increased traffic, and at times the roads are in bad condition. We recommend adding an extra 2 hours to your travel time to account for any potential delays, in order to reach the reserve gate by 18h00. If you are traveling from the north heading south on the N2, please be aware of ongoing roadworks in Piet Retief that may cause delays.

Check-in: Strictly between 14h00 and 18h00 on day of arrival.

Check-out: Before 10h00 on day of departure.

Reception hours: 08h00 to 16h00. Should you arrive after 16h00, please report to reception first thing the next morning.

Please note, Pongola Game Reserve South Gate opens at 06h00 and closes strictly at 18h00 for the safety of the animals, staff, and guests. Please ensure you have all the necessary supplies for your self-catering stay before arrival. The closest shop is roughly 50 km away. Our on-site shop sells wood, firelighters, water, and gifts.

Gate entrance fee: R100 per vehicle, payable at the gate. Please note this gate fee is not included in your accommodation rate.

Before arrival: Please contact your host with your estimated time of arrival. The road from the gate to the camp is a 12 km dirt road with clearly marked signs. White Elephant Safaris reserves the right to refuse entry by latecomers who have not arranged in advance.

Please take note of our monkey precautions. You are now inside a game reserve where monkeys and other wildlife roam freely in the camp. MONKEYS WILL ENTER THE TENTS at any opportunity provided. We kindly ask that you familiarise yourself with our monkey precautions to deter monkeys from entering the tents.

1. DO NOT FEED THE MONKEYS. Feeding the monkeys encourages them to return to the camp and the tents.
2. Do not leave any food, packaging, or bags outside or inside the tents as this will attract the monkeys.
3. Please place food in the cupboards with childproof locks before leaving your tent.
4. CLOSE ALL WINDOWS AND SLIDING DOORS when leaving your tent.
5. If you are still able to push your hand through, the monkeys can enter the tent.

Be vigilant at all times. The monkeys will make use of every opportunity to snatch food from your tent or deck.

Check-out time is 10h00. Our cleaning team will be arriving shortly after. Kindly leave the tent in the same condition you found it - or as close to it as possible.

Before you leave:

• Remember your stay is self-catering. Kindly make sure you have washed all the dishes that you used.
• Please place your rubbish in the bin provided.
• If you had to move our furniture around, please make sure all furniture is back where you found it.
• If you used more than one tent, kindly make sure your cutlery and crockery are recovered from other tents.
• There is no need to make the beds.
• Please make sure that you did not accidentally pack any of the tent's contents like towels or kitchenware.
• Please report any accidents or damages to our team.

Late check-out Please note that a late check-out fee of R250 can be charged if guests do not check out by 10h00. We follow a thorough cleaning process and need time to get the tents ready for our next guests. We appreciate your understanding in this regard.
